Part II

Now that I have added an image to "visually" explain each of Calvino's memos it is time to take what he is talking about and apply it to print literature. In the next 4 blogs I will being taking Calvino's memos and applything them to a chosen piece of print literature. It is important to now only know and understand new information concernce with the literary, but we must also be able to apply to our classrooms to improve the literary education of our students. This semester we have been discussing the pedagogy of literature. In other words, what is our purpose for teaching literature in the classroom. Is it solely about literary appreciation? Is it about teaching kids to think.

By combining and comparing Calvino's methods to my chosen print litature text I will be trying to address the following questions:
1) How does this print literature align with Calvino's methods? Does that justify its use within the classroom as instructive literature?

2)How has our study of the more all encompassing "literary" impact the way we (will) teach literature, but possible more importantly, how does it impact how our students will best learn literature?
